This past Friday, a good friend mentioned the dream of living in an house with the purpose of intentional community.
What would it look like to live in an house where you have the privilege to come home and know that an encouraging word can happen if you had a bad day or being comfortable enough it's not that big of a deal to ask for prayer....almost like a family.
I have had this dream since coming back from BayUP. B/c I had this dream, when i would try and ask ppl about pursuing it with me back in 2007, I felt misunderstood. A lot of potential interests, but no real commitments. A problem with people of my generation. Some thought it was too big to concieve or worse that it seems like a cult.
Honestly, I feel some way God has answered my prayer considering my current living situation. i do have housemates, but the thing is..the picture inside my head doesn't look at all like what I had expected it to be. But, when does it ever ?
I still have this dream. Even though, I still have community. I am still striving for it. I am afraid to let the dream die...otherwise, then it becomes comfortable and stale like old Cheetos. And, if you ever had a stale Cheetos it's not that great.
Lately, I have been finding myself happier. Work is work. But outside of work, I am able to connect with people. Which is pretty much my life-line. And, I have been able to do it these past couple of weeks. I find that when i do fall into a sad depressing state, I am not connected--legitmate face to face interactions--not FB,myspace,or Twitter...
And, that's because I strive for community. Now, to be intentional is a whole another ball game. It involves the fruits of the Spirit b/c when we become intentional to know one another, let me tell you---it's not pretty. Still working on the intentionality in this season.
